The Global Expo is a business to business exhibition which is multi-sectoral in focus, discussing investment and innovation for economic growth. The Exhibition is endorsed by the Government of Botswana, through the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.
This year’s Global Expo took place from the 6th - 9th of August 2019 under the theme, “Harnessing the power of emerging markets for economic growth”. The expo was graced by His Excellency President Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi accompanied by the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Hon. Bogolo J. Kenewendo. The President indicated that Batswana Businesses should leverage on the opportunities available in emerging markets such as China, India, Brazil, Russia and South Africa and that they should engage large firms within this emerging market to explore and exploit opportunities in various business areas.
He further said, the World Bank of Doing Business Report of 2019 has placed Botswana at number five in the ease of doing business in Southern Africa. He said to maintain and or improve this good standing will continue to review and make strategic reports to improve the ease of doing business and provide a competitive environment as well as attract Foreign Direct Investment. Delivering her welcome remarks, Hon. Bogolo J. Kenewendo recognized President Masisi’s commitment and dedication to developing the private sector thereby diversifying Botswana's economy. Minister Kenewendo revealed that delegates and exhibitors had come from as far afield as India, Indonesia, Ethiopia, South Korea, Nigeria, Japan, Turkey, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia amongst other countries.
