The Board of Directors of Botswana Oil Limited (BOL) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Meshack Tshekedi as Chief Executive Officer. The appointment is effective from the 01st of June 2020, for a period of three years.
Mr. Tshekedi has experience spanning over 20 years in the mining sector, oil industry, brewing and beverage production as well as consultancy. He holds an MSc. in Engineering Management, BSc. in Chemical Engineering and a BSc.in Economics from Missouri University of Science and Technology in the USA. He also has various certificates in Management and Supply Chain Management.
Mr. Tshekedi’s career commenced in 1997 as a Research Assistant. He held this position for several institutions and companies including the University of Missouri, the Department of Water Affairs and the University of Botswana. He joined Debswana Diamond Company as Junior Process Engineer in 2002 and later Kgalagadi Breweries as Strategic Planning Manager and Cash and Carry Manager.
Mr. Tshekedi joined the Consultancy field in 2004 as a Consultant for X-pert Botswana. In this role, he provided project management services to clients including Debswana Diamond Company and Geoflux. Meshack returned to Kgalagadi Breweries and Botswana Breweries where he held various posts including National Supply Chain Manager and Group Supply Chain Director.
Mr Tshekedi joined MRI Botswana as General Manager. He was later appointed Group Supply Chain Director for SAB Miller Africa – Zambian Breweries Group PLC (Zambian Breweries, National Breweries and Hendrics Beverages) in 2013.
On his return from Zambia in 2015, Mr. Tshekedi joined the then newly established national oil company, BOL as General Manager - Corporate Policy, Strategy and Business Planning. The position entailed the development of the BOL corporate strategy, ensuring business process alignment and monitoring organisational performance.
Mr. Tshekedi spent three years at the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) where he rose in rank from Chief Operations Officer to Acting Chief Executive. In this role, he was responsible for promoting investment and trade in Botswana as well as promoting the National Brand to position Botswana as the best place to visit, live and invest in.
In February 2018 Mr. Tshekedi retraced his steps back to BOL where he joined the Company as General Manager Supply. In October 2018 he was appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer, a position he held until his appointment.
