Dr. Ntsosa is an accomplished financial economist with extensive expertise in macroeconomic policy, and macroeconmic and external sector analysis with a focus on reserve adequacy and external vulnerability. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics and a Master of Philosophy (Economics) from The New School for Social Research in New York, where his doctoral research focused on the dynamics of foreign exchange reserves prior to the 2008 financial crisis. He further holds a Master of Arts in Economics from Western Illinois University, achieved through the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Statistics from the University of Botswana.
Dr. Ntsosa has served in key roles in public finance and macroeconomic policy institutions , including as a Planning Officer at the Ministry of Finance, where he contributed to the national development planning, budget preparation, and economic reporting under the National Development Plan (NDP) framework. His work involved close engagement with fiscal policyย formulation, economic forecasting, and analysis of the broader macro- financial environment. He also has extensive experience in academia and research and economic consultancy. He currently serves as Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Botswana and has undertaken consultancy and advisory assignments involving macroeconomic analysis, policy evaluation, and applied economic research for public and institutional stakeholders. With a strong foundation in economic theory and applied research, Dr. Ntsosa brings a global perspective to economic policy analysis and financial systems, expertise in planning, budgeting, and policy formulation which are highly relevant to BOLโs strategic objectives, particularly in guiding sound financial governance, economic forecasting, and long-term infrastructure investment decisions that ensure security of supply and sustainable growth.
